The Hampton Inn - State College generally receives positive feedback, particularly regarding its staff and convenient location near Penn State. However, recurring cleanliness issues and accessibility concerns within the rooms have been highlighted, alongside occasional problems with room configurations and breakfast quality.
This was a very mediocre if not outright poor experience overall. -There is NO self-service laundry despite the website saying otherwise. I would have never booked otherwise had I known. This is my #1 gripe. -The Front Desk! They range from seemingly trained and attentive to untrained and inattentive. ?On one occasion, I had an item shipped to the hotel for pickup on a Wednesday. The lady at the Front desk, Divinity, mentioned she had not seen it delivered despite being there since 3pm. The package was delivered at 3:48pm. I went to try and get my package around 6pm so plenty of time had passed. When it was found, after 30 minutes she claimed it was in her managers office which she was not allowed to enter. ?On another occasion, I was unable to checkout at 6:10am on a Friday and obtain my printed folio. The lady working the Front Desk, Ranisha, was on break for 45 minutes. Even the lady worker preparing breakfast was perplexed and really did try to help me checkout. Unfortunately they did not give her access to the system.
We had a wonderful check-in experience at the Hampton in on College Road. We arrived around 12:30 a.m., tired after a long day, and Ra’Neesha welcomed us with a warm smile and genuine kindness. She was professional, patient, and made our check-in quick and effortless. Even at such a late hour, Ra’Neesha was attentive, helpful, and made us feel truly welcomed and valued. Her outstanding customer service set such a positive tone for our stay. Thank you, Ra’Neesha, for your exceptional hospitality—we truly appreciated it!
Second time I have stayed here. The rooms are simple but clean. The staff are very friendly. After a long day of driving they got me into my room early. Great place to stay.
Booked a room with two beds gave us a room with a king sized bed. Refused to change us said sorry for the inconvenience but it is what it is. We had 4 people in our room… no hot water in the entire hotel. Had to take a freezing cold shower.
This is not the Hampton experience you expect. The rooms have leaking air conditioning units creating a damp dank musty smell. The showers were ice cold for 2 days straight. The closets were 6” deep and 8’ wide with an awkward curtain and couldn’t fit a stand size The front desk manager was an inexperienced young girl who was incapable of assisting with any concern without becoming hostile and snippy. Hampton are one of our “go to” hotels because of consistency. This hotel does not live up to the name Hampton.
Our room smelled strongly of mold, but we were able to get a new one which was fine. Interesting thing is this was room 144, same room as another review from 9 years ago saying the same thing. Have they not fixed it in that whole time?
Curtious staff, plenty of parking, felt like I was at home, even though I stayed a few hours. Thanks again, I'd stay here again. Love the door key on your phone
If Josh is up for promotion and/or raise you best give it to him! He is worth his weight in gold! My reservation wasn’t coming through the app and Josh reached out to them and got my room all while juggling a booking in rush for the volleyball tournament in town and spills in the hall and directions to guests. Definitely knows the meaning of customer service (and I’m a professional in customer service). Way to go!
Typical Hampton. Clean, great people. Had a accessable room and it was not very accessible with a knee scooter. Also just a tub so very difficult to shower with a bad leg
Rory is absolutely phenomenal with her customer service! She went above and beyond to insure a comfortable stay! If she hasn't already, she needs a raise; she's a great first impression for this hotel. Rooms are excellent with comfortable beds! Breakfast and refreshments with a great esthetic! If I could critique anything, it would be the entrance to the hotel, its off the highway so be careful getting in. This is a hotel that is worth staying in! Hope this helps!
