The Carnegie House receives generally positive reviews, highlighting its beautiful design, immaculate rooms, and friendly staff. While many guests appreciate the upscale atmosphere, some have expressed concerns about inconsistent service and cleanliness issues, particularly regarding room upkeep and cancellation policies. Recent reviews suggest a stronger focus on hospitality and customer satisfaction.
Could’ve been so much better. Just rude restaurant staff. Since when did being rude to guests become okay for hotels I don’t understand. Waitress was lovely when we were getting served but the restaurant Manager was not. And it was weird there was no one there to check us in or check us out. You kind of had to go and find someone. Which i know a few of the guests remarked on during our stay.
We travel to Penn State quite a bit and the Carnegie House was by far the nicest and friendliest establishment we’ve stayed at. The rooms and bathrooms were immaculate. Jack and Farrah were very accommodating with our needs and change of plans. Highly recommended!
This place is a hidden gem. Immaculate rooms, great shower and good bed. On site restaurant is superb. Do try the very unique Apple cheesecake! And don’t forget to have breakfast.
Was in town for my son's graduation and this place was an absolute gem! I enjoy traveling and can have pretty high expectations; this place did not disappoint. The room was well appointed, with many thoughtful details. The service was on point and the staff friendly and attentive. I ate dinner at the restaurant twice and the steaks were cooked perfectly! Highly recommend!
We were totally surprised with this hotel. What a beautiful unique hotel! The customer service is outstanding and the rooms are beautiful and so clean and have so many amenities. We had dinner in the pub and skipped the pub menu and ordered off the main menu. My lobster ravioli was so delicious and it was recommended to try their signature dessert the apple. It was best dessert ever!. I highly recommend staying here and would love to come back!
Very disappointed with the rigid cancellation policy and lack of care for their customers. This was our first visit, and after booking a room, we needed to cancel just three hours later due to a work circumstance, yet no exception was even considered. While policies are important, true hospitality means recognizing reasonable circumstances and showing some flexibility. Unfortunately, this felt more policy-driven than guest-focused and left a poor impression. Unfortunately, this experience has discouraged us from booking here again.
I LOVED staying here. It is such a beautiful property and super cozy. We stopped there after a long drive from Chicago and it was the perfect place to stay for the night. It is super clean, had amazingly warm staff members. Would recommend this 100% and will come back to stay in future ??
I have 3 words- Abigail, Alanna, & Bill. Visiting Penn state and Bellafonte from NYC, and I cannot say enough about the staff here. Aside from the rooms being absolutely stunning and meticulously clean (they look exactly like all the pictures you see on their page, which is rare nowadays), Everyone is so welcoming and more than hospitable. From a room request I made before arriving, to check in and dinner at the on-site restaurant/bar, to the overnight front desk- everything was spot on. We couldn’t ask for more; everyone here has gone above and beyond. Hopefully my niece will be attending Penn State. If so, we have found our spot!!
Room was super nice, spotless, beautifully appointed, modern, quiet and comfortable. Service all around was exceptional - friendly, professional, responsive. I had dinner in the restaurant at the inn (Stonhouse Pub/Grace Restaurant) and it was exquisite. I absolutely loved the authentic Italian dishes that complemented a nice selection of traditional items such as steak and seafood. I'm Italian and ordered the carbonara, which was true to the Italian recipe - guanciale, egg, cheese. The pasta was certainly hand-made and was perfectly cooked - al dente. (I understand an Italian chef from the sister property in Lucca, Italy introduced these items. Fantastic!!) Great hotel and restaurant with excellent service and attention to detail. Thank you!
The Carnegie House is a charming boutique hotel with professional staff and attention to detail. There are 21 rooms that are quiet, sophisticated, spacious and recently remodeled. The location is beside a golf course in a secluded area near Penn State University. We enjoy staying here for anniversaries and birthdays, especially since there is an amazing upscale restaurant on-site. Highly recommend.
